Pros & Cons Of TVs Vs Projectors

While some folks still enjoy going to the cinema, things have certainly changed over the years. Thanks to rapid advancements in home entertainment, more and more people nowadays are able to essentially create their own mini cinemas at home. TV’s have steadily been filling more and more wall space, becoming massive, ultra-thin, and highly functional, though also super pricey. In terms of just screen size, they’re not actually the biggest option though. That goes to projectors.

When choosing the right option for you and your home theatre, there are a few key pros and cons between the two, that you may want to consider first.

Big TVs

Pros:

    • Easy to set up and use, with a high level of functionality.
    • Excellent colour and contrast, with resolutions reaching 8k and upwards.
    • Good picture quality in almost any level of lighting.
  • Convenient for most rooms within the home.

Cons:

  • Limited to the size of the TV itself, cannot project larger than the TV size.
  • Depending on the type of TV, the picture quality may degrade when viewed from off-centre angles.
  • The bigger the TV, the more expensive it generally gets.

Projectors

Pros:

  • Can project a larger image onto a wall or screen, creating a more cinematic experience.
  • Has a comparable level of colour and contrast to TVs.
  • More flexible in terms of placement and setup and can even be used outdoors.
  • Particularly suitable for presentations in a business setting.
  • Far more affordable than big TVs.

Cons:

  • More complex than TVs to set up and use.
  • Generally has a limit of 4k resolution. 8k projectors do exist but are still expensive and hard to find.
  • Image quality may be affected by ambient light. A dark room or setting, with an empty wall or specialized screen, is required for optimal image quality.
  • The bulbs in the projector may need to be replaced periodically.

Deciding Which is Best For You

At the end of the day, the best choice for you will come down to your personal preferences, as well as what exactly you want the TV or projector for. If you are someone that is OK with not having the greatest resolution available and have a nice, dark spot for it, projectors are a no-brainer, being far cheaper.

Particularly if it’s for work purposes and you don’t need anything greater than 4k. Otherwise, TVs remain the best choice when it comes to simple quality, convenience, and ease-of-use. If you are used to large TVs, you may find its conveniences hard to let go of, especially if you end up playing at sites Big Dollar casino on your big screen.

Research & Brainstorm

Either way, careful consideration is needed before going ahead and making a purchase. Do some online research, read reviews, and check different stores and their prices. Perhaps even make your own list of pros and cons. Otherwise, be sure to properly scope out your home to determine which option is best suited to the space that you have available.
